ECLIPSE – A very special super yacht
Designed by Terence Disdale and built by Blohm & Voss, the 350 million euro yacht has been sailing under the Bermuda flag since 2010. Technically, the yacht of the Russian billionaire Roman Abramowitsch was prepared for the acceptance of a submarine and missile defense systems before it was launched. According to German gun law, it was not possible for the shipyard to install this for a private person.
After a secret reconstruction of the yacht in 2012 (the ship was covered up in Barcelona), the total costs are now estimated at almost 800 million euros. To protect privacy, “Eclipse” has bullet-proof glass portholes, flash sensors and large-scale disruptive measures against digital film and photo recordings.
A 16m pool on board can be converted into a dance floor or theater using a hydraulic floor. In addition, the yacht has a cinema, a discotheque and a completely open roof of the owner’s cabin. The yacht carries numerous toys, including four motor boats and almost two dozen jet skis, as well as two helicopters.
90 crew members take care of the owners and guests who have 18 cabins. A diesel-electric drive with rotating gondolas ensures a cruising speed of 20 knots. The tank capacity of 1 million liters of diesel enables a range of over 6,000 nautical miles.
